Sig: Ship it!

Hello, fine backers!
I'm unbelievably pleased to report that I just picked up 200 lbs of books from Fedex, roughly two hours ago. The printers had recently finished attaching the handouts to all of the books, followed by mailing them out to various destinations. The bulk of the copies went to Magpie Games, who will be doing fulfillment for over two hundred of you fine backers. I asked them to ship a mere 90 copies to my home, so that I could send them more economically to the small number of Canadian backers.
I got the shipment, and took a look. Each book will now be sent with a map of Sig, and an index attached, in a professional fashion. These will make it easy to ship to you, and allow people to buy copies for retail sale.
They show a beautiful map on one side…
And a useful index on the other!
Due to the timing of when the books are arriving, it may take a little while before some of these reach you. I will be personally sending all the Canadian copies in the next couple day. Magpie Games, who are doing my US and International fulfilment, will be closed for the holidays next week, so I expect the books will go out in the beginning of January. My rough estimates are that the majority of you should have your copies in hand by early February at the latest.
Fulfilment on this particular project has been more of a challenge than I am used to, but I am confident that you will enjoy the end product. Now, I must get back to shipping books!

Quick update for Sig!
I am continuing to work with our printer to get the index/map handouts for Sig ready and attached to the books, so that all of the print copies can be sent out to you fine and remarkably patient backers. I’m extremely sorry for the unreasonable delays, and I have asked my printers to get the books sent to our fulfiller as soon as possible so that all of you can get the rewards you are owed.
Meanwhile, I was given 100 copies of Sig: Manual of the Primes from my printer in advance of GenCon. I still have a number of copies remaining and I want to get as many of these to backers as possible. If you are attending PAX Unplugged from November 17-19th, you can pick up your copy from the Indie Game Developer Network Booth!
If you are interested in getting your copy at PAX Unplugged, please fill out this form. While I won’t be attending the convention, my fellow IGDN members will be happy to give you your reward. I will make sure that you get your handouts as soon as I get them.
While we have been waiting for the print copies of Sig, I wanted to let you know that I have been working on the stretch goals. I brought an early model of Freebooters to the game design convention Metatopia, and got some great feedback. I’m excited to continue to work on the project and get you more planar gaming.
Thank you for your time, and happy gaming!

The Long Wait
It’s been far too long since my last update for the campaign, and I really appreciate your patience. I have been working with our fine printers to get the map & index handouts prepared and attached to the books, so they can be shipped out to you folks. I hope that these will be in transit by the end of the month, as I’m eager to deliver these to you.
I apologize for how long this has taken, and I’m happy to hear reports of people running their first games even before the hard-copies arrive! With luck, the physical books shall soon be yours and you will be able to start your own campaigns.
In the Mean Time
While the printers are finishing off with the books, I’m continuing to work away on a variety of awesome RPG products. I thought folks might be interested to know that I’m contributing on…
Preparation of the two decks of cards for Sig which were promised as a stretch goal.
Brainstorming to figure out the best approach for Freebooters to be discussed with the brilliant minds at Metatopia 2017.
Development of our new science-fiction horror game titled “After the War”, for testing at Metatopia 2017.
Development of our sociopolitical PBTA wizard game, titled “Circles of Power”, for testing at Metatopia 2017. Many of you picked up a copy on BackerKit!
Translating the french–language “Tschai Roleplaying Game”, into english. This game was based on Jack Vance’s Planet of Adventure series and uses Dungeon World as the foundation. https://www.ulule.com/tschai/

I will send out another update by the end of October to let you know where things stand with the shipment of Sig. Till then, may the ‘verse treat you kindly.

Sig and GenCon 2017

Hello everyone!
I am very happy to let you know that, on Wednesday August 16th, I received the first advanced copies of Sig. The printer express-shipped a hundred copies of the book to my hotel room on the day before Gencon, and the book looks absolutely gorgeous. This meant that the backers who chose to pick the book up did manage to get their copies, and I finally got a chance to hold the beautiful book in my hands.
There was one, rather significant issue with the print run however, which may cause some minor delays in shipping out copies. Due to an issue with one of the printing sub-contractors, I’m afraid that the books were printed without the beautiful end-papers I had prepare. The front end-papers were supposed to contain a beautiful map of Sig, while the rear end-papers were supposed to hold the index. The printer felt terrible about this, and is working with us to prepare a larger, fold-out map with an index on the back, which can be folded and fit inside the front cover of the book.
The main shipment of the book is still in a painfully-slow importation process, so I’m working with the printer to get the maps produced asap. When that happens, the printer will shrink-wrap those maps to the books, and we will get those to Magpie, who will ship those out to all of you.
I’m very sorry for the delays, and I wish this printing problem hadn’t struck. That said, I know you will love your copies of the book when you get them.
Planar Fulfillment

The Sig Gazetteer has printed the Manual of the Primes, and they are in transit. Now that we are in the home stretch, I want to share some of the shipping details with all of you folks.
The books have been printed overseas, and should arrive in Chicago with KrakenPrint in the next week or so, according to my estimates. As soon as they receive the physical copies, they will be sent out to Magpie Games, who will be performing most of the fulfillment for me. Kraken will also be sending copies for GenCon at that point. Due to a variety of minor shipping and printing delays, it appears that we won’t be able to send out the books until immediately after GenCon. This does mean that I can offer to let you pick up your copies at that convention though!
Pickup at GenCon
We know that many of you are both attending GenCon, and eager to get your hands on these beautiful books. That’s why we will be offering to allow backers to pick up their rewards from the IGDN game room at GenCon. If you are interested in doing so, please fill out this form by August 6th. If you don’t fill in the form, we will mail your copies to you as normal. This will be at the Indie Game Developer Network game room HQ, at ICC 239.
August 6th is also going to be the date when I close the backerkit, lock-down addresses, and charge all of the preorders so that Magpie will be able to prepare the shipments as quickly as possible. This means you have one week to….
Answer the survey, if you are one of the handful of fine backers you have yet to do so.
Adjust your shipping information, if you have moved since you submitted your survey.
Adjust your payment information, if you pre-ordered something and changed credit cards.
Stretch Goals
We have already finished the first set of stretch goals, preparing the quickstart which you can download on DriveThruRPG, and creating the Roll20 character sheets. Once we have all of the books delivered, I will be digging into the three remaining stretch goals, which consist of…
A 90 card Reference Deck, which will make it easier to play the game without character sheets, and to randomly generate content.
A smaller NPC Deck, which will be a useful reference for the GM in play.
Freebooters, which will adapt Sig to the Blades in the Dark system based on the BitD system reference document when it’s up.
Highspire Resistance
While I have you here, I wanted to make sure that all of you were aware of the Spire RPG, which just launched a couple weeks ago. I’m completely unaffiliated with the project, but I’m extremely impressed by the rich, urban setting loaded with social conflict, which they present. It’s got the same mixture of personal motivations and otherworldly weirdness that I used for Sig, and it certainly resonates for me. I thought most of you fine folks would be interested in taking a look, if you hadn’t seen it yet.
Here is the overview of the project from the kickstarter page.
You are a dark elf. The touch of the sun burns your grey skin, and you hide from the light in twisting corridors, crumbling temples and the lawless undercity of the metropolis known as Spire. The high elves, rulers of the city, alien and capricious, allow you to live here as an underclass forced to beg for scraps.
Your religion, your culture, and your people are being destroyed all around you. You have seen your fathers, your mothers, your grandparents subjugated by the high elves, and you have had enough. You have joined the resistance: the ministry of Our Hidden Mistress, worshippers of a forbidden goddess.
You have sworn in blood that the high elves will fall, that you will destroy them through subterfuge, and insurrection, and terror.
Take a look, and share the love on their kickstarter. Till then, happy gaming!
